Yesterday on the occasion of Ganesh Immersion, 7 ARPFian took the volunteering and co ordination to all new level. Working along with AP/TS Police Department, Rapid Action Force and other special forces, the team worked exceptionally well in coordinating with crane operator and ensuring safe and accident free traffic management at Tank Bund. Between 10 pm to 5 am in the morning, the team credited 87 successful pandal immersion all measuring above 20 ft. The team will soon be joining hands with various NGOs for clean lake campaigns and has already planted around 300 + saplings in various schools as part of Green Wave project. More Greener projects promised ahead. sharing few photos from the field yesterday. ARPF President gave a small guest speech at St. Mary's college at an event held by Hyderabad Paws Magazine. The students were enthusiastic and had a great time knowing about the various myths and facts about wildlife. During our field work , Team ARPF met Mr. J Raymond Peter (Principal Secretary (FAC), Environment, Forest, Science & Technology and also Principal Secretary, Panchayat Raj, Rural Development & Rural Water Supply). He was happy to hear about our volunteers work and wished us luck for our future projects. Other discussion with the board ended on a promising note with good times promised ahead for our forest. In a surprise raid conducted (jointly) before nag panchami by TEAM ARPF and WPSI authorized by the TS forest department, 2 Monitor lizards and 2 cobras were rescued. Two poachers were also arrested in the process along with the traps and materials used for poaching and were later handed over to the Forest Department for further proceedings. The cobras rescued were Defanged by the poachers.They were later cleaned, fed with water and handed over to forest department along with the poachers. The rescued monitor lizards were badly injured and tied/hooked around with their own tail and broken twisted nails.They were unhooked and handed over to the zoo hospital for criritcal care. A detailed report of the same was given to the forest department requesting a strict vigilance on such activities in forest areas. Team ARPF would like to especially thank WPSI (Wildlife Protection Society) and Mr. A. Various snake awareness shows and training and education session for the public as well as for the team were conducted at the zoo. The project for relocation of leopard cub back to the forest was also discussed during the visit. The team comprised of following members and leads (Dilip singh, Abhishek K, Sairam Soma, Mohd. Zaheer, Y. Nishanth, Vignan kiran, C. Ravi). The team interacted with the keepers and head incharge of the zoo and learnt and shared their experiences. |
